The first step in dealing with this problem is to ensure that your tank is large enough – if your tank is overcrowded, there is little you can do aside from upgrading to a larger tank or removing some of the fish. Some species are naturally more aggressive and territorial than others and, if they do not have adequate space in the tank or if they feel that their perceived territory is being threatened, they may antagonize their tank mates.
